Another OnePlus handset could be about to drop

Details are very thin on the ground but the data suggests that a third device is on the way to complement the OnePlus 2 and oft-rumoured OnePlus Mini device that is expected later this year.

Model E1005, as it is seen in the filing, will be another smartphone in the 5.5-inch display size bracket like the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 and the image provided appears to show a dark boxy design that could be the back of an older Apple iPhone except that it doesn’t sport the fruity logo.

There’s also a camera in the top left corner of the device, which differs to OnePlus’ usual preference for a central camera. Under the hood it boasts a 1.9GHz processor and support for all the usual connectivity modes such as LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, FM radio and more.

Ever since it first surfaced in 2014, OnePlus has been doing its best to change the way smartphones are sold with very limited sales runs of devices that have a big spec sheet but a small price.

The OnePlus 2, much like its predecessor, is rolling out very slowly to customers and plenty have expressed disquiet at this. To rectify this, OnePlus opened up general sales of a device for the first time earlier today though this was only for a 60 minute window.

Tesla’s autopilot update arrives this week

The Tesla Version 7 software with Autopilot gets its release this Thursday and brings with it plenty of upgrades, a new look and that all important ability for Tesla cars to be far more autonomous than is currently the case.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to announce the release yet gave very few details on what it actually consists of beyond a cosmetic update and the aforementioned small tweaks.

This isn’t the first time that Musk has spoken up about Tesla’s autonomous vehicle plans. At a conference in early 2015 he explained that the process towards autonomy would be a gradual one and that it would “take quite a while”.

Plenty of other companies are indeed rolling out autonomous technology to their cars and a study by Ford found that semi-autonomous car tech has been wildly popular in Europe thus suggesting that autonomous tech will be embraced by the masses.

Tesla’s Version 7 software has been around for a little while after the company released it to a clutch of beta testers back in August and consumers can expect to get behind the wheel of their up-to-date Tesla Model S or X in the next five data.

Unlike HP's limited-edition Star Wars laptop that was unveiled last week, the Kova isn't an official Star Wars-branded product. Still, fans of George Lucas's universe could do worse than pairing the two together.

The new Kova, which follows on from Roccat's Kova[+] is powered by a Turbo Core V2 72MHz 32-bit ARM-based MCU. It's equipped with a Pro-Optic R6 sensor with 3500 DPI which can be accelerated using Overdrive mode to reach an effective DPI of 7000.

The ambidextrous mouse features two Smart Cast buttons on both sides of the Kova's left-and-right mouse buttons, giving it a total of nine mouse buttons. Roccat's Easyshift[+] functionality allows eight further secondary functions to be mapped, something that should go down well among MMO and MOBA players.

As with just about every other gaming mouse today, the Kova features LED lights that can be configured through software. It's set to launch in November at 59.99 Euros, which roughly translates to Rs. 4,500.

New remote turns PS4 in to an all-round media powerhouse

That’s because Sony has finally debuted the Universal Media Remote for the console that means you won’t be wasting the Li-ion batteries on your precious video games controllers for much longer.

The remote, clearly geared towards movie and box set fans, looks exactly the same as a regular DVD player or TV remote except that it features the D-pad and buttons that you’d usually find on the PS4 controllers.

It connects up to the PS4 via Bluetooth and the fun doesn’t end there. The technology on board allows you to control up to three additional devices, which can be anything from TVs and set-top boxes, to DVD players and audio systems.

From launch it will work with a vast range of different apps including Netflix, YouTube, Twitch, PlayStation Video, the on-board Blu-ray player, Crunchyroll and a range of other apps only available in the US.

There’s currently no definitive release date for the remote yet Sony has already confirmed it will be priced at $29.99 with users in the US, Mexico and Canada able to put in an order for one later this month.

Essentially, it’s a feedback system that uses vibrations to communicate back to the user that an action has been registered, while pressing harder, or holding a tap rather than immediately releasing, triggers the OS to perform different actions. Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighi, demonstrated its use in Apple Mail, pressing and swiping to handle email or bringing up the status of a flight from Messages.

Federighi went on to demonstrate performing app actions with a press on their home screen icon – effectively turning 3D Touch into a touchscreen version of the right mouse click. The new Live Photos feature uses it too – displaying a still photo until a long-press triggers the video.

Sensors integrated into the backlight of the display detect the pressure or duration of your tap, using a Taptic Engine chip similar to the one that’s under the MacBook’s trackpad or buried inside the Apple Watch.
