Samsung has announced the launch of their new Unbox Magic TV range in India packing inside an all inclusive smart ecosystem that doesn’t require falling back on third party solutions. These include five main Unbox features namely Personal Computer, Music System, Home Cloud, Live Cast, Two Way Sharing and Smart Hub. The company made it clear that all models launched from now will have these features by default while a few older models might get them via OTA updates. The televisions range from High Definition to Ultra High Definition (UHD) 4K with impressive colours and contrast levels.
Personal Computer enables users to treat the television as their personal computer. This allows for mirroring their laptop on the TV screen wirelessly without relying on an internet connection. It can also remotely access a laptop or PC regardless of location over the internet. Create documents, show presentations, work from the cloud and more on the big screen. It is secured by Samsung Knox and one month subscription to Microsoft Office 365 will be provided for free.
Music System turns the television into a virtual music system featuring a library of skins with different colour options to suit your mood. This adds a visual element that can also change the tint on its own taking the time of the day into consideration. Music playback from multiple device playlists is supported as is connecting an external speaker setup.
Home Cloud automatically transfers pictures and videos from your smartphone onto the connected USB drive or storage that is password protected without the need of an internet connection. Effectively, this turns into a virtual cloud requiring an initial setup for syncing data. It can also be used to share the same content over the air to other smartphones minus the internet.
Live Cast harnesses the internet for letting users live stream from any remote location onto the Samsung TV directly. This enables easy sharing of a live stream without much hassle.
Two Way Sharing allows content to be shared between the TV and smartphone so users can effectively play music or videos from their handheld device and enjoy on the big screen. This, too, works independent of the internet.
Smart Hub transforms the TV into a central hub for all user content. It becomes a one stop shop of sorts providing access to apps, TV and various other sources. Currently, over 60,000 titles in more than 10 local languages can be enjoyed by viewers. The interface shows thumbnail previews giving a glimpse into the content before letting the users jump right in.
The new Samsung range begins from a price of Rs.24,900 and will be sold at all Samsung Smart Plazas and leading consumer electronic stores across the country. Screen sizes start from 32″ going right upto 82″.
