In what will cause many to sigh with relief, Instagram finally added a feature to allow users to filter their comment streams. If they want to take it a step further, they can permanently switch off comments on their own posts. It can also be fine-tuned to let users be able to turn off comments on individual posts.
While the company has general guidelines and policies for dictating acceptable forms of speech, some words or phrases have entirely different meanings in different parts the world. This is likely one of the reasons why the company is letting users completely control the content displayed on their account.
The feature will begin rolling out to users with a large number of followers first because Instragram believes it will let them get useful feedback in the least possible time. Soon after that, it will begin to permeate to all Instagram users.
