Ubisoft continues its 30th Anniversary celebration by offering the 2002 classic Splinter Cell this month to PC users. The third person stealth game has been critically acclaimed for making good use of the “light and dark gameplay” along with freedom of movement offered to the player. The trifocal goggles have already become an iconic part of the series making gamers instantly associate it with the series.
The player controls Sam Fisher, a highly trained field agent of the fictional “Third Echelon”. They are tasked with overcoming adversaries and completing objectives by remaining hidden under the cover of darkness. Sticking to shadows is advised since getting spotted leads to a quick death or even a game over during certain sections. The player is given a limited amount of ammunition which is mostly non-lethal and has to rely on quick thinking to exploit enemy movement.
With 5 more free games to go, the reveal for next month will happen in the middle of August. Splinter Cell will also be getting a movie starring Tom Hardy.
