Snapchat unleashed Chat 2.0 upon its users bringing with it a host of changes and additions. The new update allows users to jump instantly from sending a message to starting a voice or audio chat. Audio messages can be saved for offline users.
Video calls can now be handled using 3 options – Ignore, Join or Watch. Ignore will cancel the call, Join will add the user to the call and Watch allows users to join without activating the camera.
The chat screen has also received an improvement in the form of Auto-Advance Stories which begins a new story automatically after one is finished. The screen can be swiped to skip ahead and pulling down lets the user exit.
Snapchat recently acquired Bitstrips but for now users can send stickers. No word on whether “bitmojis” will be added in the near future.
The company has also updated its privacy policy promising to not save private conversations between users.
The update is now available on iOS and Android.
