Shatterproof Moto X Force comes to India

February 2, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

The flagship phone from Motorola touting the world’s first shatterproof screen – the Moto X Force is releasing in India on February 8, 2016. The Shattershield display consists of five layers to protect the screen from shocks and fall damage.

The device offers a 5.4-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440x2560p rendering the display at 540ppi. Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor with 3GB RAM and the Adreno 430 handles the graphic duties.

The phone houses a 21MP rapid focus CCT flash camera on the rear and a wide-angle 5MP flash camera on the front. It supports video recording at 1080p and 4k resolution at 30fps. For calls, there is active noise cancellation support.

On the connectivity front, the Moto X Force includes Wi-Fi 80211a/b/g/n/ac with Bluetooth 4.1LE and USB 2.0 for data transfer purposes.

Governing all of the above is the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system which is a bit surprising since the 6.0 has been out for quite a while.

Powering the hardware is a 3760mAh battery with an added feature of TurboPower charging that promises up to 8 hours battery life with only 15 minutes of charging. The Moto X Force has a thickness of 9.2mm and weighs 169g.

The mobile will be sold simultaneously online and offline at a price tag of Rs. 49,999.

February 2, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

The Facebook-owned popular mobile messaging app, WhatsApp finally hit the one billion user base on February 1,2016. The messenger is used for a wide variety of purposes ranging from personal to business.

Within a span of 6 years, WhatsApp has penetrated the international market with zero monetisation and more recently, dropped the annual fee of $1 with a further emphasis on keeping the app free of ads. Competitive apps still charge for optional items like stickers and emoticons.

Facebook acquired the app in 2014 for $19 billion with an aim to use the data to improve their own targeted advertising.
