GoPro MAX update brings new features for content creators

May 8, 2020 by T3 India

GoPro has released a new software update for its award-winning GoPro MAX camera. Although it’s disappointing that there’s very little the owners can do right now while we are confined to the comfort of our homes, we must give credit when and where it’s due and utilize the time in our hands to master new features so that they can be put to use as soon as activities resume.

One of the best parts of this update is that users will be able to shoot 3K videos at 60fps, thus fostering filming of action-packed activities which can be edited to view in slo-mo as well. Imagine watching this cool video in slo-mo. It’s shot by the GoPro MAX attached to a Frisbee!

GoPro has also added the 360 Time Lapse Video and the Time Lapse Photo in the spherical-capture realm. These features were already available in the HERO mode. We can see users making the most of the Time-Lapse Photo option which enables hands-free capturing of 360 photographs, even during the activity. Instead of pressing the shutter, users can either create a single photo from all the shots taken or ‘use the footage to create an actual time-lapse’.

With the update, in the single-lens HERO mode, now users will experience the power of the MAX camera as it has a stronger horizon levelling capability added to the TimeWarp and Photo modes. Users can create footage and/or photos will minimal distortion and with straight horizons.

The GoPro App is a valuable editing tool for smartphones, which enables users to unleash the full potential of the GoPro family, and now, the new firmware update allows for “25% faster offload of MAX content to the GoPro App when using a 5GHz Wi-Fi band”. Thus, it reduces the time between capturing and actual sharing.

The GoPro MAX camera is the most expensive out of the Hero 7, Hero 8 and itself costing around Rs. 42,999. It has some excellent features for those indulging in a myriad of activities ranging from high-octane sports to vlogging. With features such as its incredible HyperSmooth in-camera stabilisation, TimeWarp, SuperView, and more – we aren’t really surprised at the fact that the GoPro MAX has won awards for its performance.
